A website for a construction company, with project photos and ROT

In Sweden a bathroom renovation costs tens of thousands of kronor. Customers collect several quotes and look at photos. Before they get in touch, they want to see your projects, ROT-avdrag, F-skatt and insurance.

How Swedes search

  • badrumsrenovering [miasto]
  • byggfirma ROT-avdrag
  • snickare nära mig
  • totalrenovering pris

I write the Swedish texts and pages around these phrases. On the map, the same phrases are picked up by your Google Business Profile, and I work on your place in the regular results with the local SEO service.

What isn't working today

  • Your photos are stuck on your phone

You have dozens of photos of finished bathrooms and decks on your phone, and on Facebook they sit in random order. Customers want to see before and after, with a caption saying what you did and where.

  • F-skatt and insurance on the first screen

Customers check them before they get in touch for the first time. If the website says nothing about them, they assume you don't have them. That's why they sit right at the top of the page.

  • Quotes over the phone eat up your evenings

The quote form asks about the type of work, the floor area and photos of how things look now. That takes care of the first conversation, and you can see straight away whether the job suits you.

What this website needs

Six things customers check before they call or write.

  • ROT-avdrag explained in Swedish, with an example amount
  • Projects: before and after photos, with the type of work and the town
  • F-skatt, insurance (försäkring) and guarantee (garanti) in the trust bar
  • Quote form that takes photos from the phone
  • Pages for your services: badrum, kök, altan, totalrenovering
  • Reviews from Reco or Google shown on the website

Trust signals on the website

The same business on its old and new website

Move the slider. The new website opens with a photo, a heading and a phone number, and the quote form sits right next to them, with no scrolling.

After: the Stenkvarn Bygg website on the Jupado template. A darkened full-width photo of a renovation, with a yellow menu bar on top holding the logo and a black “Ring +46 70 174 06 05” button. On the left, a heading in narrow capitals, “Badrum, kök och målning i Stockholm med fast pris och ROT-avdrag”, a short description and the buttons “Ring” and “Se våra projekt”. On the right, a white “Få ett pris” form card with a yellow strip at the top: type of service, postcode and phone.
Before: the old website of the fictional company Stenkvarn Bygg AB. A brown header reading “Välkommen till Stenkvarn Bygg AB”, a menu in a table, empty “Tjänst 1, 2, 3” boxes, a black-and-white photo, a visitor counter and a footer from 2012.
  • “Ring” button in the header
  • Quote form next to the heading
An example using a fictional business. I made up the “before” as a typical old website. The “after” is the first screen of the home page from my template, and on the phone it's what you see before you scroll. Photos: Pexels.

Website questions: Construction companies

Can I add new projects myself?

You email me photos with one sentence about the job. I usually add them the same day, as part of the monthly plan. You don't need to learn any admin panel.

I work all over Stockholm. How many areas should I choose?

Three: the ones where you have the most jobs and want more. A separate page for each district makes sense, because customers type “badrumsrenovering Nacka”. You can add more areas on Pro.

Will the website help with larger clients, such as housing associations (BRF)?

Yes. A BRF board usually checks a contractor more closely than a private customer does. A website with projects, insurance and references helps you get an enquiry from them.
